A LEVELS: Biology
JOBS: Zoologist, animal behaviour specialist, zoo keeper, researcher
Zoology is a subject where you study animals – you would learn about their behaviour, why they behave that way, how we identify and classify animals and their bodies and why they are built the way they are. For example, why don’t snakes have legs, and what is special about their body that makes it okay that they don’t have legs? As part of a zoology degree you might also study a particular place or a time in history and the animals that lived there/then. You might also get to go out to do research in the field, and see different types of animals and where they live. At the University of Liverpool our zoology students work with animals at Chester Zoo and Knowsley Safari Park, and have the option to go abroad to Uganda to study animals in Africa.
